A voice for all residents

MICHAEL KITE

For most of my life, I have had the good fortune to enjoy the many

things that Newport Beach has to offer.

For years, my family rented a beach house on the harbor that

greatly influenced my decision to move here after graduating from

USC. In 1998, I made my residency more permanent by purchasing a home

on the 48th block of River Avenue. I can say that, without a doubt,

my decision to make Newport Beach my home has greatly contributed to

my personal happiness and my professional success. My desire is to

represent the community that has enriched my life and serve those who

would call me neighbor.

Newport Beach, and more specifically, District No. 2, would best

be served by a resident who understands the complexities of the

district’s demographics. Being that I was a renter, and am now a

homeowner and a landlord, I have a better understanding of my future

constituency than the other candidates who have not had these

experiences.

In regard to my professional achievements, I have taken a small

family business from near bankruptcy to a multimillion-dollar

manufacturing operation with worldwide distribution. My ability to

find creative solutions to problems and foster teamwork between

departments will translate well from business to government. I

believe this city needs business and business needs the city. Newport

deserves representatives that understand and appreciate this, and as

a business owner, I do.

In conclusion, District. No. 2 is a diverse melody of homeowners,

renters and businesses that would best be served by someone who

represents and empathizes with a majority of its demographic makeup.

I believe my status as a renter-turned-homeowner, my professional

background and my degree in public administration uniquely qualifies

me to represent the residents and businesses of District No. 2. Thank

you for your consideration.
