Helen Weld

Helen Weld died Oct. 17 surrounded by family and close friends.

Mrs. Weld was born Nov. 27, 1941, in Sacramento. In 1987, she was

accepted into the Festival of Arts. She had been juried every year

since. This summer, the festival honored Mrs. Weld by featuring her

artwork “Jeweled Dog” on selected merchandise.

Mrs. Weld is survived by her children Jeff and Stephanie; and four

grandchildren, Dustin, Kevin, Kristen and Tiffany.

Funeral services will begin at noon Saturday at El Toro Memorial

Park, 25751 Trabuco Road in Lake Forest.

The service will be followed by a celebration of Mrs. Weld’s life

from 1 to 5 p.m. at Tivoli Terrace on the Laguna Festival of Arts

grounds, 650 Laguna Canyon Road.

Donald Stuart Greaves

Donald Stuart Greaves died Oct. 18. He was 86.

Mr. Greaves was a resident of Laguna Beach for 35 years. He was a

boiler maker.

Private services were held.

He is survived by his wife Enid; son Ian of Capistrano Beach; and

sister Florence.

James Vreeland

Lt. Col. James Vreeland died recently of pulmonary disease. He was

83.

Mr. Vreeland graduated from West Point Military Academy. After

graduation, he flew 35 missions over Europe in B-17s during World War

II. A career officer, Mr. Vreeland also flew many missions during the

Berlin Airlift in 1949.

Mr. Vreeland was married seven times, twice to Jean Oldfield

Rolleston of Laguna Beach. He owned Wood’s Cove Liquor until it

burned down and the Sandpiper in Laguna. He also drove a local school

bus, ran a used car lot in Riverside and a tire recapping business in

Alaska, and was food service manager at Robinsons in Fashion Island.

Friends met to celebrate his life.
