Every fourth Friday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. No Square

Theatre will have a family sing-along with the renowned musician

Terry Alaric on piano. Show tunes and standards are encouraged for

live piano accompaniment. Participants can bring their own sheet

A TASTE OF WINE

Wine tasting takes place every Friday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Len’s

POETRY MEETING

Laguna Poets meet at 8 p.m. Fridays on the third floor of Wells

CCDF DANCE DAY

California Choreographers Dance Festival is having their “Dance

Day,” a celebration of dance with inspiring master classes followed

by an exciting dance concert. The classes and concert are free and

are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with location changes between the No

Square Theatre’s Rehearsal Studio at 221 Broadway and across the

EL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS

“El Dia de Los Muertos” is the Surfrider Foundation’s fund-raiser

with the Blues Offenders providing blues/rock for dancing and

listening pleasure. They’ll also have food, drinks, raffles and

prizes. Tickets are $25 per person with advanced reservations or $30

without. It’s for people 21 years-old and older. The event will be

held at the Laguna Beach Women’s Club at 286 St. Ann’s Drive. Call

CARNEVALE LAGUNA BEACH

“Carnevale Zali,” the first carnevale in Laguna Beach, will be

celebrated from 5 to 10 p.m. Nov. 1 on the Festival of Arts Grounds

at 650 Laguna Canyon Road. Dedicated to Lila Zali, Carnevale Zali

includes music, dance, art, food, drink and costume contests with

$500 in cash prizes. Carnevale Zali is a benefit for artist live/work

spaces in Laguna Beach. Tickets are $15 advance and $20 at the door.

Costumes are encouraged but not required. Advance tickets can be

purchased at the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce, 357 Glennerye St.,

No Square Theatre’s Open Mic Nights: Local Vocals is back from 8

LATIN JAZZ AND DANCING

Romeo Cucina will feature Latin jazz and dancing with Ivan

Marcello and his band. The music will begin at 8 p.m. Saturdays.

NEW EXHIBITS AT LAM

Laguna Art Museum is exhibiting, “Rebels in Clay: Peter Voulkos

and the Otis Group.” In the mid 50s, Voulkos led a revolution in clay

by questioning the tradition that ceramic forms must be functional

and instead created sculptural works that gave the medium a new

freedom of expression. “Feat of Clay: Five Decades of Jerry Rothman”

opens. In the 60s Laguna Beach ceramic sculptor Rothman became

well-known nationally for struggling to enlarge the scope of and to

overcome the limitations of ceramics that made it unsuitable for the

sculptural ambitions of the time. The exhibit includes his

controversial large scale triptychs of erotic figures and images of

‘FIRST SUNDAYS’

Laguna College of Art and Design and Laguna Beach Live! are

presenting “First Sundays” with Les Amis Musicalles, a flute and

strings trio playing classical chamber music from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The

concert is free and is at the college at 2222 Laguna Canyon Road.

SIGNING AT LAM

Susan Peterson, writer and honorary professor at Hunter College of

the City University of New York, will talk about Jerry Rothman and

his art that is on view in “Feat of Clay: Five Decades of Jerry

Rothman” on the Main Level Galleries at Laguna Art Museum at 11 a.m.

Nov. 2 through the end of Feb. Susan will be available to sign

MARGUERITE MACINTYRE

Marguerite MacIntyre, who played the role of Grace Farrell in the

original New York production of “Annie Warbucks” in 1993 will be

bringing her talents to Laguna Beach in the coming months. She will

be speaking today at 2 p.m. at No Square Theatre’s Square One

rehearsal studio about her experience putting together the original

production. The audience will include the cast of No Square’s own

upcoming production of “Annie Warbucks,” currently in rehearsal. A

limited number of guests will be invited as well. For more

Laguna College of Art & Design in association with Forum Gallery

of New York and Los Angeles will host “New Directions in Figurative

Painting.” This fine art exhibition presents new work from four

figurative Artists. The exhibit is being held on the campus of Laguna

‘LATE NITE CATECHISM’

Laguna Playhouse extends again the international hit comedy
