Riptide allow just one run in victory
The Newport Beach Riptide, an under-18 team affiliated with the
Pacific Coast Fastpitch Girls Softball league, went undefeated in the
Baldwin Park QuickTurn tournament on Sunday.
The Riptide won all three games, defeating the San Pedro
Fullmooners, 8-0, QuickTurn, 7-1, and Moreno Valley, 19-0, in four
innings.
Alanna Snedigar led the offense by going 7 for 9 with five RBIs in
the three games while Newport Harbor High’s Julianne Bass tallied
four hits in five at-bats. Bass had four RBIs.
Kristin Nicholas went 5 for 8 with a home run, two doubles and
five RBIs while Heather Lohrman (Corona del Mar) was 6 for 10 with
five runs scored. Newport Harbor’s Sasha Grumman went 2 for 6 with an
RBI despite playing with an injured wrist.
Jessica Hudgins and Michele Sierra each had five RBIs with Katy
Erickson tallying three hits and one RBI.
Rachel Reekstin won two games on the mound and Kelsey Ferguson
pitched a shutout against the Fullmooners.
