Suspected shoplifter escapes from Bloomingdale’s security
Police are looking for a woman who escaped from a Bloomingdale’s
store after security tried to detain her on suspicion of stealing a
$140 cashmere scarf.
At about 11:20 a.m. Nov. 11, a Caucasian woman in her mid-30s was
taken into custody by a store security guard on suspicion of stealing
the scarf. She managed to escape after the guard placed a handcuff on
the woman and was in the process of placing the handcuff on herself.
The thief was last seen fleeing from the store with the handcuff
still attached to her wrist.
The woman is about 5-foot-7 and 145 pounds, with long auburn hair
worn in a ponytail. She is wanted on suspicion of burglary and
assault.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call the
Newport Beach Police Department at (800) 550-6273.
