Police officer injured in traffic accident

A Costa Mesa police motor officer was injured in a traffic

accident Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle slipped on a patch of

oil on the Corona del Mar Freeway’s Bear Street offramp, said Lt.

Dale Birney.

Officer Bryan Wadkins, however, escaped without major injuries, he

said. Wadkins hurt his ankle and hand and was taken to Hoag Hospital

Presbyterian, Birney said.

He was treated and released.

Wadkins was attempting to make a turn off the offramp when his

tires must have hit the oil on the roadway, causing him to lose

control of his motorcycle, Birney said.
