Tennis challenger series dates are set

The next event in the 2003 Laguna Beach Junior Tennis Challenger

Series is set for Nov. 30 at Alta Vista Park.

Previous fall tournament dates were Sept. 21 and Oct. 26.

The top eight point holders from those three events will qualify

to compete in the year-end Challenger championship scheduled for Dec.

7.

The challenger series, open to novice to advanced players,

features 2 1/2 hours of singles round-robin play, ribbon awards for

the top four finishers in each age group and players can participate

in any or all of the three tournaments.

The entry deadline is 4 p.m. Nov. 27.

Registration is being accepted at the Laguna Beach Recreation

Department at the following times:

Boys’ 10- and 12-and-under and Girls’ 10-and-under divisions, 1 to

3:30 p.m.

Boys’ 14-and-under and Girls 12- and 14-and-under divisions, 3:30

to 6 p.m.

Tournament fee is $25 per player per tournament and checks should

be made payable to the city of Laguna Beach Community Services, at

515 Forest Ave.
