Woman reportedly raped on Bayshore

A 33-year-old Newport Beach woman reported she was raped Monday

night while jogging near the intersection of Carnation Avenue and

Bayside Drive, police said.

The incident occurred at about 9:40 p.m., said Sgt. Steve Shulman.

He said the woman was jogging in the area when she was suddenly

accosted by the man and sexually assaulted.

Sufficient description of the attacker was not available, Shulman

said.

“But we haven’t heard of other similar incidents in the city,” he

said. There are no indications that a serial rapist is at large in

the area, Shulman said.

The incident is under investigation.
