INSIDE CITY HALL

Here are a few items the council decided on Monday:

EXTENSION REQUEST

The council considered a request from Two Town Center for a

one-year extension on its master plan.

The plan covers construction of an 18-story office building, a

five-level parking structure, demolition of two existing structures

and reconfiguration of the surface parking in the Two Town Center

area of South Coast Plaza Town Center.

The master plan was approved in October 2002.

The extension will allow Two Town Center to have more time to get

the necessary building permits.

If the company needs more time beyond Oct. 21, 2004, it will have

to ask for another one-year extension.

WHAT HAPPENED

The council unanimously approved the extension.

COMMUNITY OBJECTIVES

The council expected an update of the first quarter report for the

2003-04 fiscal year community objectives.

The objectives are intended to provide staff members with clear

direction on the council’s priorities. They also serve as

well-defined blueprints the community can use to measure the city’s

performance and progress.

WHAT HAPPENED

The council received the report and approved the transfer of two

objectives to the completed list: one that provides incentives for

owner-occupied housing on the Westside and one for park development

fees.

MEETINGS CANCELED

The council considered canceling the Dec. 15 council meeting and

the Dec. 22 Planning Commission meeting because they are close to the

Christmas holiday and a lot of people take vacation around this time.

WHAT HAPPENED

The council canceled both meetings.

WHAT WAS SAID

“I want to be assured that nothing will be continued that is time

sensitive and hope this won’t result in a 14-15 hour meting on Jan.

5,” said Councilwoman Libby Cowan.
