Kljestan earns all-region honors in men’s soccer

Huntington Beach’s Sacha Kljestan, who plays men’s soccer for

Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., was one of four Pirates

named to the Adidas/National Soccer Coaches Assn. of America

Mid-Atlantic Region All-American teams.

Kljestan, a freshman, earned second-team honors.

In addition, he earned third-team All-Big East Conference status

and was one of the conference leaders in assists. Twice during the

season Kljestan was named the conference’s Rookie of the Week.

One game highlight during his first year at Seton Hall came on

Sept. 24, when he scored one goal and assisted two other scores as

the Pirates upset No. 6 St. John’s, 4-2.

Edison High hosts alumni soccer games Monday

Edison High’s girls’ and boys’ soccer programs will hold their

annual Alumni games Monday (Dec. 22), at the school.

The girls’ game will begin at 6 p.m., followed at 8 p.m. by the

boys’ match. This year is the first time the games will be held on

the same day. The public is invited to attend.
