Library ready for Holiday Night

The Laguna Beach Library will hold its annual Family Holiday Night

from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday.

There will be live holiday music from 3 to 4 p.m. Guests are

invited to create penguin ornaments, color a cookie plate for Santa

and tinker with crafts throughout the evening.

Local author Barbara Howard will be signing her book “Letters to

Seabiscuit.” Santa is set to arrive from the North Pole at 5 p.m. and

stay until 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Presbyterian Church to hold candlelight service

The Laguna Presbyterian Church will hold a candlelight service on

Christmas Eve.

The service will be led by Pastor Jerry Tankersley, who will

preach “The Great Christmas Gift: Hospitality.” Child care will not

be provided at this service.

Earlier in the evening, family services will be at 5 and 7 p.m.

There will be choirs and a bell choir, nursery care and a children’s

workshop for kids from 3 to third grade.

Trash collection will differ for holidays

City Hall will be closed for the holidays on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

There will be no trash collection services on those days. All

collection services will be delayed one day after each holiday for

those two weeks.

During this period, Thursday customers will have trash collected

on Friday, and Friday customers will have trash collected on

Saturday. Regular service will resume Jan. 5.

Christmas trees may be recycled by placing them out with regular

green waste. Trees taller than six feet must be cut in half to be

acceptable at curbside. For recycling, all ornaments, nails, tinsel

and any metal support rods must be removed.

Flocked or painted trees will be accepted but cannot be recycled.

You can also drop off trees at the city’s parking lot from Dec. 26

through Jan. 9 at the corner of Laguna Canyon Road and Forest Avenue.

Rocket Ship fund has grown to $5,495

There is $5,495 in the Bluebird Park Rocket Ship fund, City

Treasurer Laura Parisi said.

The money has come from 58 donors, including Village Laguna, the

PTA and the Laguna Beach Taxpayers Assn.

To donate, write a check payable to Laguna Beach, include

“Bluebird Park Rocket Ship fund” on the memo line, and mail it to 505

Forest Ave., Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
