Man suspected of killing mother
Huntington Beach police have arrested a 33-year-old man on
suspicion of killing his mother, whom officials found in a 5th Street
apartment.
Jamie A. Balint is being held in Orange County Jail on suspicion
of murdering Pamela Balint after police found him near the apartment.
The two lived together in the apartment where police believe the
murder was committed.
At about 8:40 p.m. Monday, patrol officers responded to a report
of “suspicious circumstances” at the apartment in the 300 block of
5th Street. A man whom police would only identify as another son of
Pamela Balint flagged down an officer after he was unable to open the
door to the apartment, which had apparently been blocked.
When officers arrived on the scene, Pamela Balint was found dead.
Police said she had multiple wounds.
“She had been stabbed multiple times,” Lt. Janet Perez said.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Orange County coroner’s officials had
not released the official cause of death.
Jamie Balint was taken into custody after what police described as
a brief struggle. No one was injured in the course of the arrest.
Jamie Balint has been charged with murder and is being held on
$1-million bail.
