No Namers win again, 39-34

Steve Murray hit four crucial free throws down the stretch to lift

the Huntington Beach No Namers to a 39-34 victory over Garden Grove

in a National Junior Basketball seventh-grade All-Net Division game.

Murray’s four foul shots enabled the No Namers to cement the win

and added to his nine-point total.

Neil Negrette led the No Namers with 16 points and Cody Grant

finished with eight points.

Jeff Molino, Matt McWilliams, Jordan Taylor and Colin Carroll also

hit the scoring column and led Huntington on defense.

In girls’ AYSO soccer action:

Under-12 Division

Ripcurl 4, Highlighters 0

Ripcurl, representing Region 55, shut out the Highlighters of

Region 143 to win the Area 11K championship.

Goaltenders Rachel Osman, Yvonne Lake, Randa Addam and Kaycee

Rogers shared the shutout and were backed by the defensive efforts of

Cassandra Davis, Erika De Grote and Stephanie Schmidt.

Devon Shinn scored two goals and assisted a goal by Taylor De

Grote.

Addam scored off an assist by Geena Martinez.

The play of Katherine Renaud, Chelsea Salisbury, Christina Stout

and Catherine Yee also keyed the victory.

Ripcurl’s road to the Area 11K title included wins over Region 5

(2-1), Region 1335 (3-1), in which Amanda Fitzpatrick scored her

first goal of the year, and Region 117 (3-0).

Shinn scored nine goals overall in the tournament to lead Ripcurl.
