Laguna Presbyterian Church will host a lecture by art historian

Wayne Roosa on Jan. 4.

Roosa will discuss “The Quiet Heresy: Biblical Themes in

Contemporary Art.” He will examine a cross-section of recent art,

ranging from the weird to the sublime.

Roosa teaches art history at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minn. He

is a regular writer for “IMAGE,” a journal of the arts and religion,

and for “ARTS,” the arts in religious and theological studies. He is

a co-founder of the Rutgers Art Review, an Andrew Mellon Research

Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum of Art In New York City and a Juror

for the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Roosa will speak at 9 a.m. Jan. 4 in the parlor at Laguna

Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Ave. The public is invited to the
