Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run accident

A 38-year-old Huntington Beach man was hospitalized Sunday

afternoon after he was injured in a hit-and-run crash while biking in

Crystal Cove State Park, officials said.

The man was traveling in the bike lane eastbound on Coast Highway

from Corona del Mar toward Laguna Beach when he was hit from behind,

Newport Beach Police Sgt. Ron Vallercamp said.

“The driver made no attempt to stop,” he said.

The only description available of the vehicle was that it was a

gold compact, Vallercamp said.

The victim was taken to Mission Hospital’s trauma center, he said.
