“Research in German Church Records” will be the topic at the

meeting of the Orange County California Genealogical Society, with

featured speaker Joan Lowery, former president of the German Research

Assn. Lowery will speak at 11 a.m. following a 10 a.m. business meeting. Morning workshops will begin at 9 a.m. and afternoon

workshops will start at 12:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the

MONDAY

New Voting Equipment will be featured in a demonstration hosted

by the Huntington Beach Coordinating Council at the Murdy Park

Community Center, on Goldenwest Street and Norma Drive. Information

Huntington Dog Beach will need volunteers to clean the beach.

Free cleaning supplies and quarters for parking will be provided.

Free pizza will be available from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Huntington Dog Beach is along a stretch of the beach between

Goldenwest Street and Seapoint Street. Volunteers are advised to meet

at a white canopy near Tower 24. Cleanup will take place from 7:30

Save Our Strays of Huntington Beach will sponsor a low-cost

microchip identification and dog licensing event at the Lake View

Park Clubhouse at 17451 Zeider Lane. Microchipping will be available

only to Huntington Beach residents and will cost $5. To be eligible,

dog owners must provide proof of residency and have a valid dog

license. Annual dog licenses will also be available. Information:

Mitch Cottrell of Electrosystems in Huntington Beach is offering

to purchase Christmas lights and install them at any home in need of

spirit brightening. The 12-year-old company, which serves the

electrical needs of commercial businesses, wants people who might

CIVIC GROUPS

The Huntington Beach

Chapter of the National Assn. of the Physically Handicapped

provides disabled children and adults the opportunity to make their

lives become more vital to the community through providing

informative newsletters four times a year from National Headquarters.

It meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at

Wycliffe Gardens at 18765 Florida St. Anyone interested in becoming

Pete’s authentic “Dance

for the Waves” luau includes a lei and shell greeting, Polynesian

buffet open bar, official tiki torch lighting ceremony, hula lessons,

prizes and raffles, Hawaiian shirt contest, music of old Hawaii and a

Polynesian dance show. The luau is at Pete Mallory’s Surf City Sunset

Grille at Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa every

Saturday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended. Adults are

The Clara Barton chapter

of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will

meet at 9:30 a.m. on the Thursday preceding the third Saturday of

Membership in DAR is open to any woman who is at least 18 and can

prove lineal bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided in

The Pacific Coast Mothers

Club is inviting new members for a new infant group and a

2-year-old group. The Huntington Beach-based organization brings moms

together for companionship and support in child rearing and offers

weekly playgroup and seasonal parties for children ages newborn to 5.

The MISS Foundation is a support group for families who have

experienced the death of a child that meets on the first Thursday of

The Point-to-Point

chapter of the American Needlepoint Guild meets on the fourth

Wednesday of each month (except December) at Rodgers Senior Center at

17th Street and Orange Avenue. Hospitality is at 6:30 p.m., followed

provides education in needle arts, particularly needlepoint, and is
