Subway burglary suspects on the loose

Two people are at large after an alleged holdup at a fast food

restaurant.

A man and woman took an unknown amount of cash from the register

of a Subway in the 6400 block of Edinger Ave. at about 6:50 p.m.

Sunday, police said.

Police said the two entered the store together. The man allegedly

placed a stocking cap on the counter and demanded money.

“He had a stocking cap and put it on the counter and demanded

money from the cash register,” said Huntington Beach Police Cpt.

Janet Perez. “When the teller questioned what he wanted, he pulled up

his shirt and indicated that he had a gun. There were never any

weapons seen, just indicated.”

Sgt. John Cottriel described the weapon as a “simulated gun.”

After the first suspected robber showed that he was armed, the

clerk, a 19-year-old Huntington Beach woman filled the hat with money

and the woman reportedly took the hat and money from the counter.

Police believe the man and woman then fled the scene on foot.

Police describe the man as 20 to 30 years old, around 5-foot-10,

clean-shaven, with short black hair and wearing a long-sleeved blue

shirt and blue jeans.

The woman is described as 20 to 30 years old, with long blond hair

worn in a ponytail and wearing a black, possibly nylon, jacket.

“We have a corridor of businesses that are frequently a little

more prone to robbery because of their proximity to the freeway,”

Perez said.

Police are searching for the duo.
