Sowers splits with Harbor Day

The Sowers Middle School girls’ volleyball teams earned a split

Monday in their matches against Harbor Day.

Sowers’ eighth-grade team needed just two games to earn a 25-11,

25-22 sweep.

The Lady Vikings’ seventh-grade team, however, suffered its first

loss of the season as it dropped two of three games in a tight match,

21-25, 25-21, 15-9.

“Harbor Day is very good, but I was proud of the girls because we

played them very tough,” Sowers’ Ken De Marco said. “I think we can

keep improving and give them a run for their money if we’re fortunate

to play them again.”

It was the first matches of the year for the Sowers’ teams, who

had not played since late December.
