The Laguna Beach boys’ National Junior Basketball third- and

fourth-grade team combined a tenacious defense with crisp perimeter

passing and domination in rebounding to produce a 46-16 rout of the

Trabuco Lakers.

The Breakers’ double- and triple-team defense set up several early

scoring opportunities, and the scoring of Jack Pillsbury and Andrew

Jensen gave Laguna a first quarter lead.

The Breakers’ 1-3-1 defense shut down Trabuco, which had scored

just one basket by the end of the third quarter.

Laguna took a 31-11 lead into the fourth quarter.

Laguna’s fastbreak offense, which got into high gear due to

Trabuco turnovers, was led by Jake Dalke, Bryan Ludloff, Larry

Stewart, Austin Hilleman and Santi Pierini.

In the third quarter, Brogan O’Bryan, Remington Zona and Zach

Jaffe helped lead the Breakers’ 15-point explosion.

Laguna returns to action Sunday for a 2 p.m. tipoff at Trabuco

Hills High.
