Two seriously injured after vans collide

Two people were rushed to the hospital on Saturday with serious

injuries as the result of an accident at the corner of Fairview Road

and Paularino Avenue in Costa Mesa, officials said.

A gray van and a burgundy van collided at 6 p.m. near the

intersection, causing the gray van to roll over, Costa Mesa Police

Sgt. Zack Hoferitza said.

The driver of the overturned vehicle sustained a head injury, a

Costa Mesa Fire Department dispatch operator said, and was taken to

Western Medical Hospital in Santa Ana. Another passenger was

transported to the trauma center in Santa Ana, and the third victim

was take to Hoag Hospital with lesser injuries, officials said.

More details were not available at press time. Officials at

Western Medical Center did not release the condition of the patients

because of confidentiality obligations, a spokeswoman said.
