Motorcyclist dies of aneurysm on road

A Westminster man died early Tuesday as he was riding his

motorcycle on the San Diego Freeway as a result of a ruptured

aneurysm in his head, officials said.

Kenneth Rogers, 40, was traveling southbound on the San Diego

Freeway north of Harbor Boulevard when he suddenly veered left,

striking the concrete center divider wall, California Highway Patrol

officials said.

The impact ejected Rogers, and he landed in the carpool lane on

the other side of the freeway, officials said.

The Orange County coroner, after an autopsy on Tuesday, determined

that the cause of Rogers’ death was the aneurysm and not injuries

from the accident, said Joseph Luckey, supervising deputy coroner.

“It was the aneurysm that caused him to lose control of the

vehicle, and he had died before the crash occurred,” he said.

CHP officials said Rogers was traveling at about 70 to 75 mph.
