Locals continue to hold

Six local prep athletic teams continued to hold down top-10 rankings

in the latest CIF-Southern Section polls.

Sunset League girls’ soccer leader Edison was ranked second in the

Division I poll, trailing No. 1 San Clemente.

In the Division I boys’ soccer poll, Edison, which stood atop the

Sunset League standings heading into this week’s action, came in at

No. 6.

Ocean View High’s boys’ basketball team, which is gunning for its

sixth consecutive Golden West League championship, earned the No. 3

slot in Division III-AA rankings.

A week ago, the Seahawks were tied for third with Atascadero,

which is No. 4 this week.

Ocean View is ranked behind No. 1 Santa Margarita and No. 2

Calabasas.

In girls’ basketball, Golden West leader Ocean View was voted

sixth in Division III-AA.

In the Division II-AA poll, Edison was ranked eighth.

In girls’ Division I water polo, Marina came in at No. 10 in the

poll.
