ART WORKSHOP

The Art Escapes workshop topic will be “Postcards From Laguna”

with Joan Corman. Students will create a long-lasting memory of

‘REBELS IN CLAY’

Laguna Art Museum is exhibiting, “Rebels in Clay: Peter Voulkos

and the Otis Group.” In the mid 1950s, Voulkos led a revolution in

clay by questioning the tradition that ceramic forms must be

functional and instead created sculptural works that gave the medium

a new freedom of expression. “Feat of Clay: Five Decades of Jerry

Rothman” will run through February 29. In the ‘60s, Laguna Beach

ceramic sculptor Rothman became well-known nationally for struggling

to enlarge the scope of and to overcome the limitations of ceramics

that made it unsuitable for the sculptural ambitions of the time. The

exhibit includes his controversial large scale triptychs of erotic

‘LATE NITE CATECHISM’

Laguna Playhouse extends again the international hit comedy

sensation “Late Nite Catechism” due to its continued sell-out

LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE

The Laguna Playhouse presents “The Last Five Years,” a play that

shows there are two sides to every love story. A fresh and

contemporary musical from Tony-Award winning composer Jason Robert

Brown, “The Last Five Years” chronicles a young couple’s romance in a

new and exciting way: her story starts at the end of their

relationship; his begins on the day they met. The play will start

OUR TOWN IN

THE EARLY 1900s

“Greetings from Laguna Beach: Our Town in the Early 1900s” at the

Laguna Art Museum will feature paintings, photographs and memorabilia

that chronicle life in Laguna Beach circa 1900 to 1930. The exhibit

includes works by William Wendt, Joseph Kleitsch, Clarence Hinkle,

Edgar Payne and Anna Hills. In 1910, Laguna’s population was around

300 and many of its residents were writers, artists and musicians --

much like today. Featuring many of Laguna Beach’s landmarks, past and

present, it’s a vivid history of Laguna Beach. Laguna Art Museum is

FAMILY SING-ALONG

Every fourth Friday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. No Square

Theatre will have a family sing-along with the renowned musician

Terry Alaric on piano. Show tunes and standards are encouraged for

CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Laguna Beach Chamber Music Festival presents the Orange County

Youth Symphony Orchestra featuring musicians from Orange County High

Schools. The program, “The European Masters Meet the Great

Americans,” will include music by Handel, Mozart, Copland, Sousa and

Ellington. Tickets will cost $10 for adults and $5 for full-time

‘IRIDESCENT’

‘Iridescent,’ an exhibition of graphic artist Rebeca Mendez’s

Laguna band Local Talent will headline the 10th annual Jazz and

Blues Festival, which will also feature the music of Timeline and the
