It’s about time to make road safer

Do I think people drive too fast on Coast Highway? Absolutely --

especially by the Emerald Bay gated community.

My son was killed on Jan. 14 at 11:30 a.m. As your editorialist

wrote, “not only can it catch the exiting driver by surprise, it can

frustrate the driver into just pulling out in desperation.”

(Coastline Pilot, Jan. 23) I find it hard to believe that anybody

would willingly pull out in front of on-coming traffic out of sheer

desperation.

I visited my son’s memorial on the Jan. 25 and after speaking with

the firefighter in the area, and hearing about how dangerous this

site is and has been, why isn’t there a light to slow traffic down?

How many people have to die before the city of Laguna decides they

should spend the money.

When I exited the Emerald Bay community, I also noticed that by

simply looking to the left, and with a little patience if needed, it

is quite easy to make a left to go southbound on Coast Highway or

just as easily make a right to go northbound. Either way, if the

frustration level is just too much, then put in a light. Then maybe

my son would be home for dinner tonight.
