It’s time for beach cleanup

Was that rain last night because it sure seems nice now (Wednesday

morning). I’m feeling good and there’s a great weekend ahead.

I’ll begin with a big congratulations to Cam and the soon-to

be-bride, Lenelle Hamil, as they are set to tie the knot this

Saturday, Jan. 31. Can’t wait to see you at the reception and may

your future together be everything that you have dreamed.

Also coming up this Saturday is the Surfrider Cleanup Day from 9

to 11:30 a.m. at Main Beach. It should also be noted that students in

need of community service hours would be credited hours for

participating in this great event. Let’s keep our beaches clean.

After all, what good is the beach if we can’t enjoy it.

On that note, I motion that Laguna Beach becomes a cigarette-free

town, at least banned from public areas and our beaches. I can’t

stand finding cigarette butts at the beach and litter above on our

bluff-top bench areas where people sit chain-smoking those gruesome

things only to litter them all over the place for us to pick up since

the city never does. There you go, ban cigarettes, I said it.

Are you serious, a year after the Montage Resort and Spa was built

now the city is complaining about the parking problem? Wow, maybe you

should of thought about the potential problem before it was built.

The city gave the Montage 60 days to fix their parking woes. How?

When it takes years to even get a permit to do anything.

Maybe the City Council might be more productive if it was more

proactive instead of reactive -- and on that note, it would be nice

if you could throw in a boat for our lifeguards here as well.

Just some food for thought.
