Ocean View High’s boys’ basketball team, which is edging toward

another Golden West League championship, is closing in on the top of

the CIF-Southern Section Division III-AA rankings.

The Seahawks, third in the poll a week ago, moved into a tie with

Calabasas for the No. 2 slot.

Both teams trail Santa Margarita, which again heads the poll.

Ocean View is the lone area boys’ basketball team to be ranked

among the top 10 in any division.

Marina, which is tied for second-place in the Sunset League,

received votes in the Division I-A poll and just missed cracking the

top 10.

In the girls’ basketball rankings, Ocean View, which leads the

Golden West League pack, was ranked No. 6 in the Division III-AA poll

headed by Morningside.

Sunset League leader Edison came in at No. 8 in the Division II-AA

poll, which is led by Troy.

Edison High continues to hold down the No. 1 spot in the Division

I boys’ soccer poll.

It is the second consecutive week at No. 1 for the Chargers.

The Sunset League dominated the top spots in the poll, as Edison’s

rivals Fountain Valley and Esperanza are ranked third and fourth,

respectively.

In girls’ soccer, Edison slipped to fourth in the latest Division

I poll. League foe Los Alamitos is ranked third in a poll that finds

San Clemente again at No. 1 and Aliso Niguel ranked second.
