HB South is all net against Anaheim
HB South combined a strong inside game with hot outside shooting to
romp past Anaheim, 59-30, in a boys’ seventh-grade All-Net National
Junior Basketball game.
HB South connected on eight, three-point shots to overwhelm
Anaheim.
Sean Guite had a hot hand from the perimeter as he hit half of his
team’s eight three-pointers and finished with a game-best 14 points.
Connor Hughes, also hitting from the outside, scored 10 points.
Doug Hansen and Daniel Rivera led HB South in rebounding and
scored nine and seven points, respectively.
Sal Lacavera added eight points, Garrett Heckel had four steals
and two points and Scott Marcin, Austin Kaneko and Cole Farmer each
scored three points.
In other boys’ NJB games:
Division 1
Team 3 29, Team 2 25
Team 3 overcame a two-point halftime deficit to win their fourth
consecutive game.
They outscored Team 2, 12-4, during a third quarter spree to take
the lead for good.
Kekai Kamai, Reed Thomas and James Hensley combined to score 21 of
Team 3’s 29 points.
The win put Team 3 in second-place in the division standings.
GIRLS
Division 2
Fighting Irish 25, Fastbreak 24
In a game that went to the final horn, the Fighting Irish hung on
for the win to even the season series between the two teams at one
victory each.
Kelsea Hann came up with a season-best 16 rebounds and added six
points for the Fastbreak.
Other top Fastbreak performers included Jodi Hwang with seven
points and six rebounds, Allison McCoy with six points and eight
rebounds and Devyn Bission with five points and six rebounds.
“We rebounded the ball well and played good defense in the first
half,” Fastbreak Coach Greg Johnson said. “We did not make our shots
when we needed them.”
