Parking sure has gotten costly at the Pribram home

Here’s a good story for you to enjoy at the expense of my mother’s

friends. Once a month my mom and her friends gather at the house for

an intense game of bridge. I’m serious, bridge, not black jack,

bridge -- and boy does it get intensely competitive.

The ladies are focused, they talk manicures, dresses, recipes,

gardening secrets, facials ... and it goes on for hours.

They have fresh tea and crumpets -- bite size sandwiches. This is

a big day for the ladies to sit back and enjoy a good game of bridge.

Now here’s the kicker, and I am not lying, this is the straight up

truth. Have you ever read that sticker on the side of a police car

that say’s “proudly serving our community”? Well, someone was so

proud that they served up two parking tickets for parking in the

driveway of my parents home.

The ladies were ticketed while parked in my parents driveway.

That’s classic. It’s nice to see that after more than 30-something

years of living in that house the driveway is now a “no parking

zone.” I can just hear the officer now, “Sorry Mr. and Mrs. Pribram

but you can not park in your driveway any more. It is strictly for

loading and unloading only.”

Gee thanks Mrs. Meter maid, you really made our day.

“Hey we should come over more often, I really love spending a

great day at the Pribram house and then paying $35 for parking in

their driveway.”

Wow. Now that the parking rate has skyrocketed here in Laguna

Beach for driveway parking the beloved bridge game days are over. You

can now catch the ladies down at the community center playing bingo.

It’s free parking!

Peace.

P.S. The tickets are being challenged, the outcome is still

pending.
