Sweet 16 teams compete today

The Newport-Mesa District will feature 16 wrestlers in the CIF

Southern Section divisional championships today.

The wrestlers finished third or higher in their respective league

weight classes.

Corona del Mar High will be represented by Pacific Coast League

champion Andrew Keligian (215-pound division), Taylor Alston (112),

Matt Loeb (130), Brian Feeley (135), Jon Dean (140), Isaac Inouye

(145), Dean Moheimani (152), Ryan Shores (160) and Robbie Richey

(heavyweight).

The Sea Kings will wrestle in the CIF Inland Division

championships at Ayala in Chino Hills. First-round matches for CIF

individual meets start at noon.

Newport Harbor, Estancia and Costa Mesa will compete in the CIF

Southern Division championships at Westminster High. Senior Kid Lim

(119) will wrestle for Newport, while Joe Amburgey (189) is Costa

Mesa’s representative.

Estancia has Gabriel Thaler (140), Anthony Hermann (160), Alex

Sotomoyer (171), Juni Panduro (130) and Martin Diaz (125) in

competition.

Semifinals, finals and consolation rounds will take place Saturday

starting at 11 a.m.

The top five in each weight class qualify for the Masters Meet,

Feb. 27-28 at 1 p.m. at Fountain Valley High.
