Man attacked with sharp object, robbed
A Costa Mesa man suffered cuts to his hand and face after three
men in a van robbed him and attacked him with a sharp object on
Wednesday night, police said.
The man was walking on McClintock Avenue south of Baker Street
when a full-size van pulled up next to him, Police Lt. John
FitzPatrick said.
“They told the victim that if he didn’t give them money, they’d
kill him,” he said.
One of the men “bar-armed” the victim, and the other slashed him
with a small sharp instrument on his hand and face, FitzPatrick said.
The three men took the man’s money and escaped in the vehicle, he
said.
The two suspects are described as having shaved heads and in
their early 20s. One of them was about 5-foot-7 weighing about 220
pounds, and the other was about 5-foot-5, weighing approximately 140
pounds.
The heavier man was reportedly wearing baggy jeans and a hooded
sweatshirt, and the other had dark facial hair and a small mustache,
FitzPatrick said. The only description of the van was that it was
either a Chevrolet or a Dodge, he said.
