Patriots Day Parade needs vets
Patriots Day Parade organizers are seeking local Vietnam War
veterans to walk in the March 6 parade.
Vietnam vets have participated in the parade since 1985. Veterans
are encouraged to wear old uniforms.
The group will meet the day of the parade between 9 and 10 a.m. at
Laguna Beach High School, at 625 Park Ave. The parade will start at
11 a.m.
After the parade, a get-together will be held at the Marine Room,
near the corner of South Coast Highway and Ocean Avenue. Family and
friends are invited.

Ecologist to speak at Greenbelt meeting
Local ecologist Allan Schoenherr, a professor emeritus of biology
at Fullerton College, will be the guest speaker at the Laguna
Greenbelt’s annual meeting.
Schoenherr will discuss how plants have fared in the canyon since
the 1993 wildfire.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be held at the Women’s Club, at the corner
of Glenneyre Street and St. Ann’s Drive.
Youth Shelter to hold volunteer training
The first volunteer training of 2004 for the Community Service
Programs Youth Shelter will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 21.
Those interested in training can call Volunteer Coordinator Emily
Hastings at (949) 494-4311.
Volunteers do not need to bring any documents or identification to
the Saturday session.
Methodist Church to hold pancake supper
Laguna Beach United Methodist Church will host a pancake Shrove
Supper and Mardi Gras Party on Sunday in the Fellowship Center. The
event will begin at 5 p.m. Tickets will cost $10 for adults and $8
for children under 13. Sales will benefit the Sierra Service Project
mission trip.
Ash Wednesday services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 25. Child
care will be provided. The church is at 21632 Wesley Drive. For
