UCI edges Santa Clara

Junior Brian Morton earned the decisive point with a victory at No. 3

singles as host UC Irvine defeated Santa Clara, 4-3, in a

nonconference men’s tennis match Sunday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

Morton, a Corona del Mar High product, topped Erich Chen, 5-7,

6-4, 6-3, to help the Anteaters improve to 4-3.

Seniors Jon Endrikat and Zoran Korac also earned singles victories

for UCI, which swept the doubles point by winning all three matches.

Moton teamed with junior Ryusuke Kashiwabara for an 8-4 doubles

victory, while Endrikat and senior Wkwesi Williams combined for an

8-6 doubles triumph.

Korac and sophomore Peter Surapol added the third doubles win for

the hosts.

Santa Clara fell to 4-3.

UCI plays host to Loyola Marymount Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
