Man found dead in marina
A man was found dead in marina waters after friends reported him
missing on Sunday morning.
The Newport Beach Police Department received a phone call at 10:30
a.m. concerning Donald Bott, 43, of Santa Ana. Friends of Bott
reported to police that he made prior threats of suicide, Newport
Beach Police Sgt. Tom Fischbacher said.
Police found an eyewitness who last saw him at the marina at 3335
W. Coast Highway. The Orange County Sheriffs Harbor Patrol and
Newport Beach lifeguards assisted in the search for the man by
sending divers to the marina where they eventually found the lifeless
body at 11:30 a.m.
The preliminary police report indicates that the individual may
have committed suicide, Fischbacher said.
