Jack O’Connell

Long-time Laguna resident Jack O’Connell died Feb. 8 at South

Coast Medical Center after suffering a stroke. He was 67.

Mr. O’Connell grew up in Newtown, Conn. He moved to California in

his 20s working at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo. He moved to

Laguna Beach in 1978 and lived across from Heisler Park for about 20

years.

He worked as a self-employed handyman. He could often be seen

around Laguna in his bright blue van or walking his West Highland

Terrier, Teddy, along with his best friend Wynn Tapley.

Mr. O’Connell is survived by his sisters Eileen Ferris of Newtown,

Conn. and Carol Mircsev of Terrytown, N.Y.; and six nieces and

nephews.

A memorial in his honor is being planned for later this spring.

Doris M. Lawson

Long-time Monarch Beach resident Doris M. Lawson died Feb. 20

peacefully and surrounded by family. She was 90.

Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Lawson.

She is survived by her sister Eunice Taylor; brother Douglas

Westlake; and five nieces and nephews.

A private service was held at Pacific View Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to South

Coast Medical Center, UC Irvine or the Big Brothers/Sisters

organization.

Mickey Kisling

Mickey Kisling, a resident of Laguna Beach for 68 years, died Feb.

22 of asbestosis. He was 85.

Mr. Kisling was a construction contractor. He is survived by his

wife, Pauline; daughters Shirley Wickham and Janice Sennes; sons Dale

and Michael; and seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and

one great-great-grandchild.
