Terry Peets of Newport Beach has...

Terry Peets of Newport Beach has been named a vice chairman of the

City of Hope, one of the world’s leading research and treatment

centers for cancer, diabetes, HIV and AIDS and other life-threatening

diseases. Peets serves as an advisor to J.P. Morgan Chase and as

chairman of the board and director of World Kitchens Inc. He also

holds board positions with the Children’s Museum of Orange County;

Doane Pet Care, the nation’s largest manufacturer of dry pet foods;

PSC Inc., a manufacturer and marketer of industrial and retail

scanning equipment; and Ruiz Foods Inc., the nation’s largest

manufacturer of frozen Mexican foods ... Randy Regier a member of the

American Institute of Architects, has been promoted to president of

Taylor & Associates Architects of Newport Beach. Regier has been a

principal with the firm for six years and has 21 years of

architectural experience. Regier is overseeing construction of the

new Hoag Hospital East Tower-Women’s Pavilion, which is scheduled to

be completed in late 2005 ... Eric Patterson of the Rotary Club of

Newport-Irvine presented $1,000 in writing grants to Philip Larnard,

Linda Davis, Jim Antenore and Gordon Yeaton, faculty members of

Irvine High School. The donation was done to support ethics education

at local schools as part of its centennial committee to coincide with

the 100th anniversary of Rotary International ... Navy Seaman recruit

Timothy G. Zapanta, son of Norene M. Zapanta of Newport Coast,

completed U.S. Navy Basic training at Recruit Training Command in

Great Lakes Ill. During the eight-week program, Zapanta completed a

variety of training, which included classroom study and practical

instruction on naval customs, first aid, water safety and survival,

and shipboard and aircraft safety.
