Golf event to be held at SeaCliff March 22

The fifth annual Huntington Beach High School Golf Tournament will

take place on March 22 at SeaCliff Country Club.

All proceeds from the event benefit athletic and student programs

at the school.

Registration will take place at 9 a.m. the day o68f the

tournament, followed by an 11 a.m. shotgun format.

The price per golfer is $225 and includes golf, an auction and

awards dinner. Those not golfing are welcome to attend the raffle and

dinner at a cost of $50.

Tee and green sponsorships are available and the event committee

welcomes merchandise donations.

Liberty Christian girls claim hoops title

The Liberty Christian High girls’ basketball team captured the

CIF-Southern Section Division V-A championship Friday by rallying to

defeat Mesa Grande Academy, 43-39, at The Pyramid at Cal State Long

Beach.

The Lady Minutemen trailed by as many as 12 points in the third

quarter before storming back.

They trailed by five points at the outset of the fourth quarter

and took the lead with 3:30 to play, and never surrendered that lead.

The championship game victory was a first for the school, which

was had never before reached a division basketball final in its

34-year history.
