Matt Deaner struck out seven Dodgers during the first four innings of

play and the Marlins went on to win their Majors Division opener at

Ocean View Little League with a 3-1 victory.

Deaner also allowed the Dodgers just one hit and one run scored,

which came on a passed ball in the fourth inning.

He received strong defensive support from Karl Baranov, Garrick

Danner, Victory Herrera and Jacob Schmidt.

Deaner also delivered the first run of the game, a low-line triple

down the right field foul line that scored Derek Hintz, who got on

base via a line-drive double to the right-centerfield gap.

The score stood at 1-0 until the fifth, when Cameron Mahdad walked

and Alden Mathews singled. That set the stage for Jared Shaft, whose

single scored Mahdad.

Mathews later scored on a passed ball to compete the Marlins’

scoring.

Brandon Holland pitched in relief for the Marlins, and struck out

six.
