Angels quiet Cubs

Jamie Heinecke struck out six in three innings and the Angels

produced enough offense to prevail, 6-1, over the Cubs in Newport

Beach Little League Majors Division play March 3.

Nick Flamson allowed one run in two innings while Armani Ferrante

pitched a no-hit inning.

David Weiland, Heinecke and Flamson each singled while Blake

Thomsen added a double for the Angels (2-0).

J.D. Dawn made a diving catch in center field.

Austin Jones allowed no hits and one run in three innings while

Preston Risser and Emery Molnar added strong defense for the Cubs.

Molnar, Blake Miller and Parker Ewles each had one hit.

In double-A action:

* Diamondbacks 10, Yankees 3:Daniel Anastos struck out the side in

the second inning while Christopher Von Der Ahe pitched two scoreless

innings of relief.

Catcher Thomas Sweeney brought home Von Der Ahe in the third while

Jason Crane’s double in the fourth scored Cole Caminiti, who also

scored in the first.

Michael Misetich knocked in Wesley Nesbitt and Luke Meleski in the

second.

Nicholas Storm and Baron Yahn each made strong defensive plays to

close out the fifth.
