ON THE

AGENDA

Here are some items to be considered by the Newport Beach Planning

Commission tonight.

ZINC CAFE HOURS

Zinc Cafe and Market, at 3222 E. Coast Highway, wants to expand

its restaurant hours from 6 to 10 p.m. seven nights a week and to add

beer and wine to its menu.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Staff members believe that the cafe is an important part of the

Corona del Mar business community and that the Planning Commission

should support the request.

LOCAL COASTAL PLAN

Commissioners will get their second look at the proposed Local

Coastal Plan, a document that governs development in the coastal zone

as well as public access to the coast. The task before the

commissioners is to decide what changes, if any, should be made to

the proposed document before they recommend that the City Council

approve it.

WHAT TO EXPECT

One of the issues that raised concern at the last commission

meeting was whether the coastal plan would override the city’s

General Plan in instances in which the two might conflict. State laws

that govern local coastal plans give the city very little elbow room

to modify this, but commissioners might approve a compromise that

would consider such instances on a project-by-project basis.
