New exhibits at Laguna Art Museum

Laguna Art Museum opened two new exhibits on Sunday and include

“Deborah Aschheim: Neural Architecture (a smart building is a nervous

building),” which will run through July 5, and “Joseph Raphael:

American Expatriate -- Impressionist Paintings from the Collection of

Oscar and Trudy Lemer,” which will run through July 11.

Other exhibits on display include: “Funny Business: Humor in Art

from the Permanent Collection” and “Greetings from Laguna Beach.”

Laguna Art Museum is at 307 Cliff Drive. The museum is open

daily, including Monday holidays, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is free

to the public from 5 to 9 p.m. the first Thursday of every month.

Pure Color to open ‘The Art of War’

“The Art of War ... through my eyes,” is a document of Laguna

native Vincent Ray who is stationed in Iraq. The exhibit consists of

images he has seen and captured for the public to experience.

The exhibit will open Saturday with a reception from 7 to 10 p.m.

No Square Theatre presents ‘The Philadelphia Story’

No Square Theatre will present the 1939 classic comedy “The

Philadelphia Story” as the final offering in its 2003-04 season.

Performances will be March 27 at 8 p.m. and March 28 at 3 p.m. The

performances will be at the Forum Theatre on the Festival of Arts

grounds at 650 Laguna Canyon Road. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12

Tim Miller to be at LAM this weekend

Tim Miller will return to Laguna Art Museum today and Saturday

with his new performance “Us,” a powerful, funny and moving new work

by the internationally acclaimed solo performer.

This is Miller’s third appearance at Laguna Art Museum.

Hailed for its humor and passion, Miller’s solo theater works have

delighted and emboldened audiences all over the world at such

prestigious venues as Yale Repertory Theatre, the Institute of

Contemporary Art (London), the Walker Art Center (Minneapolis) and

the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He wrote the book “Shirts and Skin”

and his solo performance works have been published in the play

collections “O Solo Homo” and “Sharing the Delirium.”

Miller’s new book, “Body Blows,” an anthology of six of his

performance scripts with an introduction by Tony Kushner, was

published by University of Wisconsin Press in March 2002.

Both performances will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and

reservations are available by calling the museum at (949) 494-8971,

Sawdust studio tour on April 4 and 5

The Sawdust Art Festival will offer the public to the chance to

explore more than 50 artists’ studios in Laguna Beach on April 4 and

5. Tour-goers will take an up-close and personal visit to the homes

and studios of the artists who live and work here.

Each day of touring ends with a reception at Sawdust. Live music,

lively conversation, hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and soft drinks will

be served.

The Sawdust Festival Art Studio Tour will be from 10 a.m. to 4

p.m. with the reception following until 6 p.m. Sunday’s tour is 10

a.m. to 3 p.m. with the reception until 5 p.m. Prices are $65 for a

weekend pass (both days of tours and both receptions); $45 for a

single day pass (one day of tours and same-day reception); or $40 for

FOA/POM launches online gift shop

The Festival of Arts announced the opening of its first “Internet

Gift Shop” to art enthusiasts around the world. The online gift shop

.com.

The shop features subsections such as men, women, children, home,

collectibles and posters to wine glasses, art aprons, scarves and

puzzles. Also offered are books, Pageant souvenir gifts,

collectibles, mugs, T-shirts, caps and more.

Patrons of the Pageant of the Master have benefited from the

online service to order tickets over the past five years. The website

also gives a wealth of information about the festival and the

exhibitors, as well as the pageant.
