Here are some of the issues the commission considered Monday.

LAW FOR CAR SALES LOTS

The commission approved an ordinance establishing special zoning

regulations for car sales lots. The ordinance involves changes to

requirements for landscaped areas next to outdoor vehicle display

areas and an allowance for businesses to install certain types of

banners without having to get approval of a planned signage program.

WHAT IT MEANS

Car sales lots can install banners without having to get prior

approval and can exceed the standard 20-foot landscape setback

without having to ask for an exception.

WHAT WAS SAID

“These variances over the past several years have been rather

routinely approved because the logic seemed to make sense,” Chairman

Bruce Garlich said. “This was in recognition of that. We said, ‘Why

don’t we just codify that and not have everyone have to go through

this variance process over and over again?’”

PLANNING APPLICATION

The commission approved an application from Farhad Khosravi, who

owns the property at 258 Santa Isabel Ave., to revise his plans for a

project, which had already been approved.

The original project called for demolishing five one-story

residences and building four two-story, single-family houses.

Khosravi wants to change the plans by increasing the second-floor

area for two of the units.

WHAT IT MEANS

Khosravi can revise his plans.
