Supervisors to delve into machine glitches

Orange County Supervisors Bill Campbell and Chris Norby and the

Orange County Registrar of Voters will hold three public meetings in

April to address questions and concerns about glitches in the March 2

primary election.

After the county’s first use of electronic voting machines, poll

workers and voters reported errors including voters getting the wrong

ballots and casting ballots before they were ready.

The meetings are scheduled for April 12 in Irvine City Hall, 1

Civic Center Plaza, Irvine; and April 13 in Fullerton City Hall, 303

W. Commonwealth, Fullerton; both meetings are at 7 p.m. A third

meeting will be held at 9 a.m. April 14 in the county Board of

Supervisors’ meeting room, 10 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana.

Campbell and Norby will collect input about election errors and

report to the full board, which will use the information to create an

action plan for how to improve the election process. For information

on the meetings, call (714) 834-4324.

Commercial brokerage moves out of Newport

Coldwell Banker Commercial REP has announced it will leave its

Newport Beach headquarters in July for a larger office space in

Irvine.

Real Estate Partners, Coldwell Banker’s parent company, will share

the new offices. The company attributed the move to tremendous growth

in the past year, and officials expect staff to more than double,

from 24 agents to more than 50, by the end of 2004.

Toll agency offers tours of wildlife habitats

The Transportation Corridor Agencies will offer free tours of

conservation areas, normally closed to the public, near the toll

roads in April and May. A tour of restored wildlife habitat areas

along the slopes of the San Joaquin Hills Toll Road is scheduled to

begin at 8 a.m. April 3 in Laguna Beach.

Visitors can see an oak woodland canyon and a scenic view of

Irvine, and they will learn about how sustainable habitat was created

in the area. Other tours are scheduled for May 1 in the Upper

Chiquita conservation area and May 15 in the Bonita Creek wetlands.

For more information or to reserve a spot on a tour, call (949)

754-3405.

Signs added to aid Triangle Square

Triangle Square shopping center in Costa Mesa has added redesigned

parking and directional signs to make it easier for customers to park

and find stores, the shopping center announced recently.

A new marquee sign on Newport Boulevard will display information

about sales and special events. In the future, parking structure

levels will be renamed for easier identification and the elevators

will be more clearly marked.
