Sea Kings dedicate win to Dorts

With heavy hearts, the Corona del Mar High softball team dedicated a

6-2 nonleague victory over visiting Saddleback to Andrea Dort and her

family Tuesday.

Dort’s father, Lynn, died from cancer Thursday. The entire Corona

del Mar team attended the funeral service Tuesday at noon and then

later played a softball game against Saddleback.

“It was a very emotional day,” Sea King Coach Nichole Thompson

said. “We were all drained.”

The Sea Kings scored three runs in the first inning. They also

relied on a strong performance from freshman Holly Van Hiel in the

circle. She delivered a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts. She walked

four.

Fellow freshman Michelle Tolfa went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and one

run for the Sea Kings (6-3). Saddleback dropped to 4-5.
