Boy Scout Aria Sarraf, a member of the Orange County Council in

Costa Mesa, was one of eight delegates who recently represented the

Boy Scouts of America at its annual Report to the Nation in

Washington D.C. Sarraf was chosen because of his heroic actions in

defending his younger brother against a vicious dog attack ... Author

Firoozeh Dumas, formerly of Newport Beach, was recently the keynote

speaker at the “92 Years of International Sisterhood” at the Richard

Nixon Library and Birthplace in Yorba Linda. At the event, Girl

Scouts from Orange County celebrated the founding of the organization

and former first lady Pat Nixon’s birthday. Firoozeh was a Girl Scout

while growing up in Newport Beach ... Ruben M. Preciado of Newport

Coast was named to the Orange Coast College honors list for the fall

semester of 2003 ... Andrew J. Policano, Kuechenmeister professor of

business and former dean of the school of business at the University

of Wisconsin- Madison, has been named dean of UC Irvine’s graduate

school of management, effective Aug. 1 ... Van A. Romans, an Orange

Coast College professor of fine arts for the past 31 years, has been

named president of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, Fort

Worth, Texas. Romans will retire from the college this spring to take

the position at the museum ... Lauren E. Maddox of Balboa, Stuart W.

Lake of Balboa Island and Mark F. Ayers, Jessica C. Berkmen, Ingrid

A. Bosetti, Travis Pirdy, Lana P. Sandoval and Lacey L. Vasquez all

of Corona del Mar were recently named to the Orange Coast College

dean’s list for the fall semester of 2003.
