Breakers drop pair of league games

Unable to mount any type of offensive threat in its two recent

Pacific Coast League outings, the Laguna Beach High baseball team

found the going tough in losses to Corona del Mar and Northwood.

Preseason league favorite Corona del Mar lived up to that billing

as it rolled past the visiting Breakers, 14-0.

The Sea Kings scored four runs in the bottom-half of the first

inning, ignited by a lead-off double and two-run home run, and Laguna

couldn’t recover.

Corona del Mar hit three home runs in the game, overall.

Laguna was able to get just one base runner past second base

during the game, and managed just four singles.

The Breakers again found it difficult in the offensive department

in a 12-1 home loss to Northwood.

The Timberwolves took control with a four-run outburst in the top

of the second inning to grab a 4-0 lead.

Laguna scored its only run in the bottom of the third, using Jake

Wheeler’s RBI to make it a 4-1 game.

Northwood, however, put the game out of reach by scoring twice in

the fifth and six more times in the sixth.

The losses left Laguna with a 1-3 mark in league play.

Laguna plays at Tesoro today, at University Tuesday and then hosts

University Thursday before the spring break.
