CdM shuts out Warren

* BASEBALL: Sophomore Eric Eadington pitched a three-hit shutout,

his first complete game, to help lead the Corona del Mar High

baseball team to a 9-0 victory over visiting Warren in an extra game

of the Pride of the Coast tournament Wednesday.

The Sea Kings (10-5), ranked No. 6 in CIF Southern Section

Division IV, were supposed to face Tesoro in the fifth-place game,

but because the two teams play in Pacific Coast League action next

week, they took on other opponents.

Eadington stepped up in his start, striking out five and walking

two.

“Eric was great,” CdM Coach John Emme said. “He threw strikes. He

went right after the hitters. They couldn’t handle his fastball. He

did a great job.”

At the plate, junior Andy Frenkiel (2 for 4 with three RBIs) and

senior Dan Whitaker (3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs) powered the

Sea King offense. Senior Josh Bradbury went 2 for 3 and slammed his

seventh home run of the season, a solo shot in the first inning.

Junior Tyler Lance pounded his first home run of his high school

career, a two-run blast that also brought in junior Tyler Ray in the

sixth inning.

The Sea Kings will host Tesoro Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.
