UC Irvine will host “Understanding the Columbia Shuttle Accident,”

with Stanford University’s Douglas D. Osheroff, recipient of the 1996

Nobel Prize for Physics. Osheroff, a member of the space orbiter’s

investigation board, will discuss the efforts taken to determine the

root causes of the accident. The event will take place at 3:30 p.m.
