Trio remains undefeated, top basketball standings

The Nuggets, Tartans and Kings each posted victories in the second

week of action in the City of Laguna Beach’s sponsored Junior

Basketball League at Laguna Beach High.

With the victories, the three teams improved to 2-0.

Nuggets 45, Artists 37

Daniel Morrison topped his league-leading 35.7 points per game

average with a 36-point effort to lead the Nuggets.

Morrison connected on 14, two-point baskets, one three-point

basket and went five for five from the free throw line.

The Nuggets led by only 39-37 heading into the final quarter.

The Artists got 19 points from Kevin Buck, who hit a trio of

three-point baskets, and 12 points from Parker King.

Tartans 63, Lakers 44

Tyler Stowers burned the net for 36 points as the Tartans got past

the Lakers.

Matt Lyman added 12 points and Patrick Lydon scored 11 for the

Tartans, who led, 24-16, at intermission.

Alex Vasquez and Armand Begay scored 17 and 16 points,

respectively, to pace the Lakers.

Kings 2, Ducks 0

The Kings were awarded a 2-0 forfeit victory over the Ducks, who

were able to suit up only three players for the game.

Borrowing two players from the Lakers squad from the previous

game, a makeshift lineup was able to edge the Kings, 47-46, in a

practice game that won’t count in the standings.

Marcus Hairston of the Ducks scored 20 points and Alex Vasquez of

the Lakers added 11 points for the victors.

Matthew Ininns led the Kings with 15 points.

White Uniforms 39, Trojans 36

Dylan Roley drained a three-point shot at the buzzer to lift the

White Uniforms to their first league win.

Will Marquette had tied the game at 36-36 on a three-point basket

of his own with seven seconds remaining.

Roley led the White Uniforms with 13 points, followed by Austin

Hyden, who was four for four from the foul line and finished with 11

points.

The Trojans’ Bryce Healey took game scoring honors with 15 points,

which included a pair of three-point baskets.
