Mosun and Club M party tonight

Mosun and Club M, an upscale sushi bar, Japanese restaurant and

nightclub will have its grand reopening today. It will open its doors

at 5 p.m. for dinner and Club M will open at 9 p.m.

The festivities include a “Burlesque Revue by Pussycat Dancers,”

with two shows at 10:30 p.m. and midnight with other surprises

throughout the evening. Mosun and Club M is at 680 S. Coast Highway.

LOCA offers art workshops

Laguna Outreach Community Arts weekly art workshops will feature

printmaking and etching with artist Enrique Marshall at 2 p.m. today

at the Pottery Shack. Marshall will demonstrate and instruct a

variety of techniques.

Julita Jones and Susan Linder will teach printmaking on April 23

at 2 p.m. in a hands-on workshop.

Cost for each two-hour workshop is $30, including materials; class

Furry exhibit at How Original! gallery

“Puppy Love and Sex Kittens” is the spring exhibit at How

Original! in honor of gallery owner Loretta Alvarado’s cat of 17

years, who died.

The exhibit features artist’s favorite animal pieces and includes

artists such as Don Brown, Joan Corman, Pamela Keilson, Aurora

Aguirre, Mary Tuggle, Julie Arnoff, Tom Mital, Rae Kirchoff, Robin

Wethe Altman and Colleen Corbett in a mix of art media.

The exhibit runs through May 10. A portion of the proceeds from

the exhibit will be donated to Animal Rescue Foundation of Dana Point

Marion Meyer hosts ‘Textural Fusion’

Marion Meyer Contemporary Art will have an opening reception for

California neoimpressionist Nancy Pace May from 6 to 9 p.m. to

premiere her latest canvases. The artist, known for her dramatic use

of light and color, has added an even greater degree of intensity to

her work. She introduces an innovative approach to impasto, imparting

an almost sculptural quality to her distinct renderings of the

California floral landscape.

The collection will be on display April 24 through May 31 at

Marion Meyer Contemporary Art at 354 N. Coast Highway. For

‘Collector’s Choice’ at Laguna college

The Laguna College of Art and Design will host its 15th annual

Collector’s Choice Fine Art Event on June 5 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the

college campus, 2222 Laguna Canyon Road.

The event will feature a fine art raffle and auction. Tickets are

$100 per person. Each guest has an opportunity to win their choice of

any contributed piece of artwork in the raffle.

More than 90 recognized professional artists donated their work

with 100 pieces available including original paintings and drawings,

sculpture, hand-blown glass in a variety of media.

Collector’s Choice begins at 6 p.m. with preview of artwork in the

college gallery, followed by wine and dinner buffet, entertainment

and the raffle and auction. The college’s gallery is open June 1

through June 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

to preview the collection.

The fundraiser provides financial assistance to students. More

than 80% of the college’s students depend on this assistance program.

Kamin fundraises for cancer research

For the sixth year in a row, Laguna Beach artist and gallery owner

Jacqueline Kamin is dedicating her art and time to support the Breast

Cancer Care and Research Fund.

The fund sells specially designed Mother’s Day note cards with

Kamin’s artwork on the coverIn addition to the note cards, Kamin will

be signing 20” x 30” posters of the featured painting at the J. Kamin

Fine Art Gallery during First Thursday Art Walk on May 6 from 6 to 9

p.m. Proceeds from the sale of posters will also benefit the Breast

Cancer Care and Research Fund.

Learn ceramics at Festival of Arts

While the main focus of the Festival of Arts Ceramic Program is on

the techniques, Festival of Arts instructor Monica Dunham sometimes

takes the class on field trips. Recently they went to the Scripps

College at Claremont, where the students had the opportunity to

attend the Scripps 60th Ceramic annual exhibition.

The Scripps event was dedicated to Paul Soldner who introduced the

Japanese style of ceramics called Raku to America.

The adult ceramics classes are taught at the festival’s site from

9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday and Tuesday. Classes are taught by

Dunham, a ceramics artist reared in Laguna Beach and a long-time

exhibitor at the Festival. The drop-in fee is $20 and for Laguna

Beach residents the $3 supplies fee is waived at the first class. On

Wednesdays, she also teaches an after-school class for children ($2

for the workshop plus $3 supplies fee).

A celebration of chamber music

The second annual Laguna Beach Chamber Music Festival, a

collaboration of Laguna Beach Live! and the Philharmonic Society will

begin Sunday. The festival is a weeklong blend of events and

performances of chamber music throughout Laguna with renowned

pianist, composer and teacher Bruno Canino as the mentor musician.

Canino will be working with two very talented ensembles of young,

energetic chamber musicians, the Biava Quartet from Boston and Orion

Winds from Los Angeles.

p.m. on Tuesday through April 22.

Tickets are $50 and the money is underwriting the festival

educational events and outreach programs by the young musicians to

the Laguna Beach public schools, Sage Hill and St. Margaret’s.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for full-time students with a

special package of all three weekend concerts for $45 for adults and

‘Catechism’ extended at Playhouse

As a result of continued popular demand, the Laguna Playhouse will

extend its run of “Late Nite Catechism” for a seventh time,

continuing through June 21.

Lagunatics is set to hold auditions

Singers, dancers and comics are needed for “PG-55 Lagunatics --

Beauty Fades. Funny is Forever.”

Auditions will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. to 12:30

p.m. April 21 at the Clubhouse 3 auditorium. No experience is

necessary.

Museum’s spring benefit set for May 6

Laguna Art Museum’s Spring benefit, “Around the World ... A Taste

of Travel and Cuisine,” will be from May 6 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.

under the stars at the Festival of Arts grounds at 650 Laguna Canyon

Road. Proceeds support the museum’s exhibition and education

programs.

The evening will feature sophisticated cuisine by prestigious

chefs, entertainment and a live and silent auction of international

travel and epicurean delights.

Also highlighted will be an opportunity drawing for a stay at the

renowned Four Seasons George V in Paris, including round-trip airfare

for two on Air France. Tickets for the opportunity drawing are

limited to 100 and are available for $100.
