Business makes knowledgeable hire

Newport Beach-based John Laing Homes recently named consumer

research strategist Lee Boylan vice president of customer knowledge.

Boylan will create research programs to predict trends in

home-buying preferences and to get feedback from home buyers after

they move in. She has managed her own consulting firm and developed

market research plans for various companies in different industries.

Company’s growth worth emulating

Costa Mesa’s Emulex Corp. this week reported record earnings for

the sixth consecutive quarter. The company, which makes data storage

systems, announced third-quarter revenues totaling $99 million, which

was an increase of 5% over the quarter and 24% compared with the same

quarter last year.

The company also completed acquisition of Vixel Corp., a producer

of data storage switches. Emulex chairman Paul Folino said the

company’s record earnings showed the integration of Vixel was a

success.

Merger expected to bring convenience

Creel Printing, which operates in Costa Mesa and is also the

largest commercial printing company in Nevada, recently announced a

merger with Claremont-based Phoenix Marketing, which offers graphic

communications and marketing services.

The company expected the merger to offer clients more printing

capacity and convenience. The Claremont plant will continue to

process creative design and sheet-fed printing work, while Web work

will be performed at the Costa Mesa facility as well as a new

207,000-square-foot plant in Las Vegas.

and construction firm, has completed sales at its nine-building,

230,000-square-foot West Corona Business Park in Corona.

Orange County-based companies purchased four of the nine
